Divorce Financial Planner

Dennis J. De Kok CFP, CDFA
I am a financial advisor practicing in Grand Rapids. I have been working as a financial expert in litigated divorces for over 5 years but was introduced to Collaborative about a year and half ago. I currently serve on the leadership team of the Grand Rapids Collaborative Divorce practice group and am a member of the board of the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan. I am a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) which means that I am dedicated to financial planning and a Certified Divorce Financial Advisor (CDFA) which means that I am dedicated to helping everyone (clients, attorneys and judges) understand how the divorce will financially impact the family not only today but in the future. I was drawn to Collaborative because I’ve seen the devastation that litigated divorce causes and I was enthused to find that there is a better way.
I am a founder of Family Capital Management, a comprehensive financial planning firm in Grand Rapids. Together with Paul Damon we manage over $100 million for our clients. I grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High School before attending Central Michigan University. Since graduating from CMU I have dedicated myself to the financial planning field. I have been married to my wife Brandi Since 2001 and we have two boys, CJ and Anthony.
